Children's Sunday School

The Children’s Ministry of First United Methodist Church is a place where faith, imagination, and learning go hand in hand. Through creative, active, age-appropriate, and Bible based experiences, children are guided and encouraged to grow in their faith and become deeply committed followers of Jesus Christ.

We joyfully serve infants through 5th graders. Whether you’re a guest for the first time or have been here for years, you will sense the excitement and feel the love of Christ as you enter our doors. We are thrilled about all of the great opportunities available for your kids here at FUMC Burleson. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Children are a gift from God and a sacred responsibility.  Because the safety of your child is a priority at FUMC Burleson, we have several guidelines we would like to make you aware of:

All volunteers and paid staff working with children at FUMC Burleson have passed a background check and Safe Sanctuary training.

Make sure that you filled out the appropriate forms before leaving your child in their class.

Infants

Parents or guardian must sign their student in on a clipboard located at the classroom entrance.  Parents or guardian must also list their location each hour.  Students will remain in class until parents or guardian come to retrieve them.

Preschoolers - 5th Grade

Students will remain in class until parent, guardian or adult dropping off the child comes to retrieve them.  A child may be released to other adults with written consent.  A child may not be released to siblings under 12 years old.  A child may be released to siblings 12 years of older with written permission of the parent or guardian.

Children ages 3—4 enjoy hands on learning through Bible based lessons and hands on crafts, music and play each week.  These boys and girls enjoy a wonderful relationship with loving volunteer teachers.  This experience not only helps these children learn that Jesus loves them, but teaches them to respect and care for each other.  This environment is where Christian Formation begins.

Our elementary age children are building a Heart of Faith using Cokesbury's new Grow, Proclaim, Serve! curriculum which incorporates Bible stories, activities, crafts, videos, and games into a full faith experience for children. They will develop the skills to unlock the Bible message and grow their faith by leaps and bounds. Colorful, engaging, theologically sound materials invite children to explore the Bible in fun, age-appropriate ways, capturing their attention and ensuring that God’s message is taken to heart. Children will discover that their faith can grow right along with them!
