MORE THAN ENOUGH

As we embark upon the new year, we are starting with a series that reflects what it means to live within the abundance of God's grace.  We worship a God is so big that it exceeds our imaginations and who calls us to be more and do more than we ever thought possible.  As we consider a God who is more than enough to provide for us as we live in a world with more than enough need and as we experience a life with more than enough pain, we will discover that God has given us more than enough resources, more than enough faith, more than enough hope and more than enough love to meet those needs and overcome the suffering in and around our lives.

To do these things, we must learn that our own imaginations are just not big enough.  We must learn to give ourselves completely into the divine imagination that sees things we cannot see on our own.  It is about moving forward in complete faith, and you are invited to join us as we live out our faith in 2012 empowered by a God who is more than enough.

Grace,
Jeff

The BRIDGE PDF Print E-mail

Beginning Tuesday, February 28, the First United Methodist Church of Burleson will embark upon a vital new ministry called "The Bridge."  This ministry is focused on serving Christ by serving our neighbors.  Each week, we will celebrate with a free community meal and a come-as-you-are worship experience.  A food pantry and clothing closet will be open each week during this time.  The people of the First UMC are part of a community that seeks to serve Christ by fulfilling the mandate to love our neighbors as we love ourselves, and we are modeling the ministry of Christ and the earliest Christians by matching resources and needs within the community.  Whether you are looking to serve your neighbors or have a specific need for your family, this ministry will have a strong impact on all involved.

This is a place where all are welcome and where Christ is the basis of our fellowship as we break bread together and share our resources as we love our neighbors.

Come Be Part of The Bridge

Each Tuesday beginning February 28

Community Meal and Come-As-You-Are Worship at 5:30

If you have questions, please feel free to call the church office at (817) 295-1166.

E-GiveGiving is a vital part of spiritual formation and maturity. It requires two things of us: Faith - Giving is an active expression of my faith. It recognizes God as my True Provider. It affirms my confidence in His ability to supply all I need. It is an act of gratitude and dependence and allows me to partner with God and His work through my church and in the world. Faithfulness - Giving requires the highest standard of personal integrity and discipline. It is not a casual or occasional thing.

In 2 Corinthians 8-9, the Bible teaches us to give willingly, generously and cheerfully. Our giving pattern should reflect a regular and systematic plan. In Malachi 3:10, we learn God's standard of the tithe - the first tenth being set apart in all of my earnings as a gift to God. Through our tithes and offerings, we prove faithful in the stewardship of all God has provided for us.

First United Methodist Church has recently added the option to give online through the eGive service.  This service will allow you to setup one-time gifts as well as recurring gifts.  We hope you find this service convenient and easy to utilize.

Trying to make room in your kid's closet for new school uniforms? Last year's uniforms too small? Want to make a difference in your community? Donate your gently, used school uniforms to the FUMC Uni-Change Min (we don't discriminate, we'll accept new uniforms also). Starting next summer our church will be collaborating with other organizations to provide school uniforms to families in need in our community! You will find a collection container in the church office or Great Hall. This ministry is a work-in-progress and is very receptive to any ideas you may have! Spread the Word about Uni-Change Min!
